Our Story...
Benjamin Goertz
Ben grew up in San Antonio, TX, until he moved to Golden to attend the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) for mining engineering. He is currently working toward his Master's degree, and next plans to apply for a PhD. He loves taking part in his school, as he has served and led on both the CSM Graduate Student Government (GSG) and the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS).
Ben enjoys playing board games, and regularly organizes local game tournaments and meet-ups.
Ben gives his love to his mother, Kathy, and his younger sister, Kaitlyn.
Jennifer Allen
Jen is a Colorado native, having grown up in Cortez. She has her degree in mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), and is now working in data analysis at Zayo Group in Boulder.
Jen likes to spend her free time reading; among her favorite authors are Stephen King and Terry Pratchett. She also enjoys crafting, including sewing, crochet, and paper crafts (check out the flowers at the reception!)
Jen is grateful for the love and support of her parents, Mark and Jeanette, as well as her younger sister, Rachel.
Ben and Jen met in the fall of 2011 while attending CSM, at a barbeque hosted by Ben's roommates. They continued to hang out at the weekly events, and started dating after about a month. Together, they enjoy watching their favorite TV shows (Doctor Who, Flash, Arrow, iZombie), playing video games (especially Lego games and Skylanders), and playing board games (the DC Deck-building game is a big favorite).
Ben and Jen share an apartment in Golden, Colorado, along with their cat, Serenity. When they are feeling adventurous, they enjoy taking camping trips; they have camped at Arches National Park, the Colorado Sand Dunes, and Lake Powell. This summer, they are looking forward to attending the Denver Comic Con.
Ben proposed in October 2014 at Lake Powell, UT (the filming location of a favorite Doctor Who episode). Jen said yes immediately. They are so excited to share their big day with their family and friends, and they give a big thanks to everyone who helped them to get here!
